Moonlit Danes guarantees the health of puppy at time of sale and against any severe or life threatening hereditary diseases up the age of 18 months. This health guarantee is only valid between the seller and original buyer, and does not transfer if ownership of the dog changes. However, we offer lifetime support with all of our puppies and if puppy is no longer wanted, we will take any of our puppies back from anyone at any time. (no cash refund)
SELLER guarantees that your puppy is in good health, seen by our licensed veterinarian, received all necessary deworming treatments, vaccinations and is free from infectious diseases when puppy leaves our home. The BUYER has 4 days (96 hours) from the time of purchase and pick up, to have the puppy examined by a licensed veterinarian and to personally inspect the puppy. Any request to return the puppy to the SELLER must be made within those 4 days and must be accompanied by a written statement from the veterinarian describing any serious health problems found (life threatening). Failure to have the puppy examined within the 4 days will void this health guarantee.
Written proof of this visit from the licensed veterinarian must be sent to the SELLER within 48 hours of puppy being seen, and will stay on file with the SELLER to keep track of BUYERS health guarantee. This health guarantee is non transferrable. It only applies to original BUYER. All proof for refund must be provided to the SELLER by the BUYER, from a licensed veterinarian on the veterinarian’s official letterhead with receipts and proof of routine care of the puppy.
-
Deworming treatment was given at 2, 4, 6, and 8 weeks of age and vaccinations have been given to your puppy at 7 weeks of age. BUYER agrees to continue with vaccinations as recommended by their licensed veterinarian, and provide preventative care and treatment as needed, and agrees to limit the puppy’s exposure until all three/four sets of vaccinations have been administered.
-
BUYER agrees to keep the puppy at a healthy weight for the duration of his life, and to feed high quality dog food. If the puppy is found to be overweight or obese then the health guarantee is void.
-
Genetic hip dysplasia is guaranteed for 18 months. Should puppy be found to have moderate to severe hip dysplasia due to genetics (not injury, or strenuous activities as a puppy) then SELLER will pay up to 60% of the purchase price towards treatment of the dysplasia, or give this amount in the form of a refund. Before any treatment is completed by the veterinarian the BUYER must contact the SELLER first. BUYER must provide proof of the dysplasia and the hip x-rays must be sent off to OFA (at BUYERS expense) to be rated before any treatment or refund is given. SELLER is not responsible for any veterinarian bills.
-
If a hereditary disease is diagnosed, it must be designated severe, or life threatening, diminishing the quality of puppy/dog’s life, and be confirmed by two independent veterinarians. Findings will be sent to Moonlit Danes including diagnostic data, x-rays, etc. and must be reviewed and agreed upon by a Veterinarian of Moonlit Danes’s choosing. Moonlit Danes reserve the right to have puppy/dog examined by a Veterinarian of our choosing at our expense.
-
Great Dane puppies must have been kept current on yearly exams, heartworm tests and preventative, all vaccines, and rabies. This health guarantee will be void if buyers are unable to provide complete and accurate copies of their puppy’s healthcare given on a regular basis.
-
BUYER agrees to spay or neuter this puppy by 24 months of age, but not before 18 months, spaying or neutering before 18 months voids health guarantee. Buyer will provide SELLER with written proof of spay or neuter within 1 month of procedure and this proof will stay on file to keep track of the BUYERS health guarantee. Failure to do so will void this health guarantee.
-
Genetic eye diseases that result in blindness of your puppy will be covered by this guarantee. BUYER must provide SELLER with proof and a second opinion is needed by a separate qualified veterinarian. And 60% of the purchase price will be refunded to the BUYER.
-
It is the buyer’s responsibility to keep the puppy away from public places (such as puppy kindergarten, pet stores, dog parks, etc.) before they are fully vaccinated to reduce the risk of deadly viruses (such as Parvovirus). Failure to do so, should puppy be diagnosed with deadly virus, will void this health guarantee.
-
We are a small breeder and any refund may be distributed as a 1 time payment or over a 10 month period in monthly payments, depending on SELLER’s situation.
-
The following are not considered serious or life threatening and, therefore are not covered by the guarantee: umbilical hernia, undescended testicle, kidney/bladder infection, under-bite or over-bite, grade one/two heart murmur, breed related eye conditions, and growing pains including HOD. The replacement option is only valid when health problems are attributed to a congenital problem and not due to accident, contagions, or illness. Buyer has been made aware that stress brought on by environmental change can often times bring on signs of illness caused by these stressful circumstances. Usually temporary, these still need to be treated with attention especially if there is diarrhea. A healthy immune system can be lowered immediately through stress and it is not uncommon for a pup to be happy and healthy with a solid stool here and in less than a week begin to have diarrhea. This is due to the immune system being stressed during the transition from the home environment to his/her new environment. When a pup has a good immune system in place, his body is able to keep at bay many parasites such as worms and environmental factors such as Giardia and/or Coccidia. Once it has been lowered, these if present in the system, will flourish when they get the chance. It is nothing to be alarmed about and is very common in puppies. The puppies will act normal and usually have a good appetite but their stool will become soft and sometimes runny. This will need to be treated if observed and your Veterinarian can perform a new stool sample to find out if there is anything present in the pups system if symptoms continue in order to give proper treatment.
-
Moonlit Danes offers lifetime support with all of our puppies. If at anytime buyer decides he/she no longer wants puppy/dog, or can no longer care for it, we will take puppy/dog back at any time, for any reason, with no refund. If at any time buyer should choose to re-home puppy/dog, buyer agrees to contact seller to help place puppy/dog in new home. At no time should this puppy/dog be surrendered to the SPCA, Humane Society, dog pound, etc.
-
If all of the conditions of this agreement have been met, and the buyer desires to return the dog, due to covered a condition, Moonlit Danes will have the option at our discretion to either replace the puppy from the next available litter, or refund half the original purchase price.
